As the Christmas season quickly approaches, the annual Tenbury Wells Mistletoe Festival has brought festive cheer and mythical celebrations.
In line with tradition, Head Prefects Keeley and Arthur at the academy, part of Ormiston Academies Trust, received an official crowning as Mistletoe Queen and Holly Prince as part of the druid Mistletoe Blessing.
The event marks the nineteenth year the Mistletoe Festival has taken place, celebrated in the Mistletoe Capital of England.
As part of the festivities, the community was also invited to take part in traditional workshops, try out local delicacies with artisan stalls, and admire the long-running Father Christmas process through the town, led by the Tenbury High students.
The annual event is supported by the Tenbury Mistletoe Association, to help promote the long-standing importance of the seasonal plant in Tenbury and recognise the unique heritage within the local area.
Vicki Dean, Principal at Tenbury High Ormiston Academy said,
“We are always so delighted to take part in this festive tradition, which is such a lovely part of our town’s history. It is a great chance for the whole community to come together to celebrate and we were really proud that our Prefects Keeley and Arthur spent the the day taking part in the blessing and leading the Father Christmas parade throughout Tenbury, despite the wind and rain!”
