Carding Mill Valley

September 2026

Year 10 were fortunate with the weather for their fieldtrip to Carding Mill Valley this week. 54 pupils visited the Long Mynd to measure how Ash Brook (the stream in Carding Mill Valley) changes as it flows down from the hills. After the very dry summer there wasn’t much water flowing in the channel! However, pupils measured what they found, including Ash Brook’s width, depth and speed as well as the size and shape of stones in the river. We will be using the data collected in the classroom in the coming weeks.
