Our BRAND NEW School Radio is live on air!

An exciting new aspect to day to day life has begun at Tenbury High!

With thanks to Worcestershire County Council (WCC) and Ormiston Academy Trust (OAT), a idea has become a reality. Thanks to a successful grant application through WCC’s Wellbeing Grant we were able to purchase all the equipment to get our School Radio ideas off the ground. The grant enabled us to purchase microphones, headphones and a mixing desk – allowing us to explore presenting live radio as well as recording and broadcasting podcasts.

Led fully by the students, it is the idea opportunity for our young people to have their own voice in our school community and has already become a popular element to our social times – with music played during social times, special announcements for upcoming events and topical discussions.

Currently there is a core group that have formed the Media Group – learning how the system works to then teach other students across year groups.

The aim of this project is to help improve confidence, belonging, participation, positive relationships and emotional wellbeing, whilst also being fully inclusive to all of our individual music tastes.

Thanks to OAT, we are now in the process of extending our reach across the school so all students can hear the music across school – speakers in all of our communal areas are being installed across the summer holidays and our TEAMs channel has now been linked to the system so teachers can use the system as part of their day to day learning as well as broadcast our Celebration Assemblies and Student Voice meetings.
